ACSR-Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced

  Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) is concentrically stranded conductor with one or more layers of hard drawn aluminium wire on galvanized steel wire core. The core can be single wire or stranded depending on the size. Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the core or infusion of the complete cable with grease.

Application

 

  ACSR is extensively used in power systems for its strength - conductivity balance.

1. High - voltage Overhead Transmission
  It's a staple in long - distance high - voltage overhead lines. The steel core gives it the tensile strength to endure mechanical stresses like wind and ice, while the aluminum strands ensure good conductivity. This allows for efficient power transfer from power plants to distant substations.

2. Rural and Suburban Distribution
  ACSR is also common in rural and suburban power distribution. It meets the relatively lower but still reliable power demands in these areas, withstanding various weather conditions cost - effectively.

3. Industrial Power Supply
  In industrial zones, ACSR serves as the main power supply line. Its high - load - carrying capacity supports the heavy - duty power needs of industrial machinery, ensuring continuous production.
